The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), commonly called the Mormon Church, is a restorationist Christian movement founded in 1830. Members believe in additional scriptures alongside the Bible, including the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. LDS worship includes Sunday sacrament meetings with congregational singing, prayers, and lay-led talks, followed by Sunday School and auxiliary classes. The Church places a high value on family, with a weekly "Family Home Evening" encouraged. LDS congregations — called wards — are organized geographically, and members give significant time to lay ministry and service. Temples, separate from regular meetinghouses, are sacred spaces for special ordinances including eternal marriage.
